Oman Customs Import and Export Services

**The imported goods and services taxes at 5% VAT in Oman**

Documents required while importing:

  • ID card, passport or residence visa
  • Shipping agents (sea / air) should submit the manifest to the customs office.
  • You may also translate foreign invoices / documents into Arabic (if required) and attach  the required invoices and documents.

What are the prohibited items to import in Oman?

  • Motorcycles with an engine capacity of less than 70 (cc) except with a permit from the Ministry of Trade and Industry .
  • Three-wheeled vehicles intended for passenger transport (tuk-tuks) except with a permit from the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Import Tariffs and Fees:

Oman’s tariff schedule imposes duties 10 % on all foreign, non-American/GCC goods imports. U.S.-origin products enjoy duty-free access.

Oman Tax Authority imposes an excise tax on alcoholic beverages, carbonated drinks, energy drinks, pork and pork products and tobacco and tobacco products, ranging from 50 % to 100 %. Oman implements a 5% value-added tax (VAT) on most goods and services, consistent with the GCC Unified Agreement.

How to use Smart Card / USB Token / Mobile PKI Services in Oman Customs?

Documents required to Login Using Smart Card / USB Token:

  1. Civil Identity/Resident Card issued by Directorate General of Civil Status, Royal Oman Police or
  2. USB Token device issued by Information Technology Authority (ITA).
  3. If you’ve any problems Identity Card or USB Token device or login, please contact the call centre.
  4. If your Civil Identity/Resident Card is not active, please contact relevant issuing authority for necessary procedure.

Mobile PKI Login:

  1. While accessing Bayan using PKI credential/Login, you may get Commercial Entity. To access Bayan, users may registered with PKI enabled ID Card/USB Token.
  2. To login using Mobile PKI method, you’ve to Mobile Subscriber SIM card is PKI enabled must be registered with his Civil Identity/Resident Card. For more information about activation, you may also contact Information Technology Authority (ITA).

How to Register Oman Bayan System?

  1. Visit Register Bayan System.
  2. Select the category whether Private / Trade User.
  3. If “Private”,  then please login to your account.
  4. If you’re a “Trade User”, then login using Smart Card, USK Token, Mobile PKI as mentioned above.
